What do Dinos Learn?
- For toddlers who need the comforting presence of a parent.
- Parents and children learn to relax and enjoy the water together
- Children participate in the class through songs and games.
- Basic fundamentals of swimming are introduced: breath control, introduction to submersion, floats, glides, and kicks
- Continuation from Ducklings with more emphasis on children attempting on their own, with the feeling of parental security
How are Dinos Evaluated?
- The Dinos classes are participatory classes.
- At the end of each session your baby will receive a certificate of participation and a fun sticker
- Swimmers are continuously rewarded for their achievements
What do parents learn?
Signs and symptoms of:- Hypothermia, choking
- Parental responsibilities in and around water
- Comfortable and safe movement through the water with child
- Games water fun and play
- How to set up their children for independence in water
What is the next step?
- The Dinos class is designed for children 1-3 years old with a parent
- You and your child can participate in the Dinos level a number of times during his or her growth and learn something new every time
- Once babies are old enough they move on to the Dolphins levels (3-5years)
How can parents encourage?
- Practice games and songs during bath time
- Go to the pool with your family often
- Enjoy the lessons with your child, providing an enthusiastic energy
- Be understanding of the different levels of development
Tips for a successful class
- Avoid bulky diapers; buy water safe diapers with plastic pants/covers
- Avoid scheduling lesson times close to nap times
- Bring your baby's favorite bath toy
